We are Paul Wesley ("Weasel") Dickson and Susan ("Fitz") Fitzgerald, a married couple residing in the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico). We opened Weasel & Fitz in November 2007 in the former Ghost Town of Madrid, New Mexico, a place we'd fallen in love with some ten years earlier when we were living in New York City.
We moved from New York in 2001 to be to be closer to Susan's family and ended up hooked on New Mexico. Putting off our eventual move up to Madrid, we lived for a time in Albuquerque and then Corrales, NM but having purchased some vacant land outside of Madrid. In early 2007 the former Fuse Gallery along the main drag in town came up for sale and we decided that we simply had to make the move. Some renovations to the space, and the gathering of artists, and Weasel & Fitz was born.
What we're all about
The focus of the gallery / store is recycled (aka Found Object) and local folk art and craft. We are intrigued with the idea of art created from discarded items and really like the idea of new uses for old things. Whether it's lamps made out of discarded chopsticks, flowerpots from old tires, clocks from discarded computer parts or lamps and shades made from discarded plumbing and license plates, we simply love it.
